10 Jun How to Deep Clean Your Make-up Brushes
If you purchase quality make-up brushes and take good care of them, they will last you for YEARS! I’ve had some of my brushes for at least 10 years and they are still going strong. I recommend deep cleaning your personal brushes monthly and quick-cleaning them weekly, or in between colors when needed. (More about that in a separate post!)

To deep clean your brushes, all you need is a good gentle shampoo. My all-time favorite shampoo is Beautycounter’s Daily Shampoo.
Add a squirt of shampoo into a large bowl and add hot water. Swish your brushes in the soapy water to remove make-up residue. Rinse brushes in warm water, gently squeeze out water, and re-shape. Lay flat to dry on a towel.
For the more difficult-to-clean brushes like those you have used for cream or gel eye liner, you may need to use dish soap. I just put a drop of soap in my palm and swirl the brush around until the liner comes out. Rinse, re-shape, and lay flat to dry with the other brushes.
